Makeup Artistry and Education

I graduated in 2002 from the highly prestigious University of the Arts ( attending The London College of Fashion) where I had extensively studied for several years in Art and Design, Womenswear Fashion and Textiles, with my highest qualification being Editorial Hair styling and Specialist Makeup HND.
I went on to have a long and successful career spanning 18 years at The Estée Lauder Companies, where I worked for MAC PRO Global Flagship on Carnaby street, amongst other locations in and around South East England.
Today I run my own freelance makeup business Laura Lipgloss where I offer beauty, fashion and creative makeup, male grooming, and hairstyling alongside teaching lessons one to one and via academies. I have been lucky enough to work internationally at multiple Fashion Week shows, and influencer events including Tik Tok, Gymshark and Charlotte Tilbury. My work has appeared on celebrities, designers and clients for Channel 4 and The BBC, as well as in digital editorial publications such as British Vogue, Elle and Dazed and Confused. I have had my work displayed on billboard advertising in the London Underground and Wembley Park Theatre (where X factor was filmed) and worked on photo shoots with fitness models, male grooming and music videos.
My work changes seasonally, through the summer I mainly concentrate my services on bridal bookings for make up and hair as teaching slows down. I work with small and large parties all over Greater London, and I am willing to travel.
My real passion is education and since achieving my Level 3 Teaching Award in 2018 I have provided makeup education both within the industry, and to individuals including Masterclasses for MAC, MAC PRO, Clinique, House of Fraser, Jo Malone, The Brit school, The Arcadia Group (Topshop, Topman and Dorothy Perkins), and a number of beauty schools and colleges in London.
I currently teach at two make up academies; CBMA which is owned by Oscar winner Christine Blundell and is a Film and TV pathway, previous students have gone on to work on Theatre shows and major film and TV productions. Academy Of Freelance Makeup
(AOFM) which is a Fashion based academy with locations in London and Dubai, and previously New York.
I also work internationally at Fashion Week as part of a team representing The New York Makeup Academy.
Aside from paid work I also choose to volunteer several times a year to provide free makeup advice workshops on behalf of Cancer Charity Look Good Feel Better at East Surrey Hospital and The Royal Marsden Hospital. These sessions boost the emotional well-being of women undergoing cancer treatment. I always find this an incredibly warm and rewarding experience and I am honoured to have been given the ability to share and give back through my knowledge to make someone smile at a difficult time. I really believe that a makeup experience extends so much deeper than just the superficial layer.
I would love to meet you and see what we can create.
